Best Day Of The Week...again

Carrying on the summer series in.Mark Chapter 10 verse 32-52. Been a fab series so far and looking forward to another instalment tomorrow.

10am (coffee and possibly donuts) for 10:30am start at Ripley 6th form centre...

Back To The Ranch

Had the most amazing day...don't you just love weddings? Been the best of everything, sunshine, flowers, pretty dresses, catching up with old/new friends, yummy food and a gorgeous and very happy couple.

But the real star of the day was my new best friend

I certainly wouldn't be sitting here drinking a long desired brew without him....probably still driving aimlessly in Liverpool. Sir Tom did let me down once when I had to make a sudden lane change towards a motorway due to lack of clear instructions and there was the time when I started day dreaming and missed a left turn. But he was so forgiving and recalculated the whole route with no fuss. I am so glad I live in the age of Tom Toms...would have spent a lot more time hopelessly lost without my trusty friend!

Cake and Icecream

Was trying to explain to someone this week how my blog got it's name and I'd kind of forgotten but I've remembered!

Inspired by Fruitcake and Ice-cream aka Louis Giglio and in particular his story of Ashley.

Fruit Cake and Ice Cream

Not a dry tear in the house by the time you get to the end of this story...mixed bag of reasons but partly because I wish everyone I know would come to know Jesus for themselves and experience his amazing grace...this video could change your life forever. If you're a reader I know personally than I'm probably praying for you...and yes, I'm the fruitcake!

Early Wakening

Thanks to some rowdy neighbours I have been awake since 5ish. It is a beautiful morning but would rather have been in the land of nod at this time on a Saturday morning when I don't normally come to consciousness for just a wee bit more!!

The Wedding

Going to a wedding today. A gorgeous couple in love with each other beginning the rest of their lives together and making their vows of love and commitment to each other before God. Like all couples they have their own love story (heard all the details from the bride!) of how they have come to this point. And now very much in love with each other.

But in this case, also both in love with Jesus. Because that is what a Christian is, someone who loves Jesus. At some point he came into their life and won their heart.

You see for everyone who is now a Christian, before they became a Christian, their standing before God was in a dreadful position. They were not like a beautiful radiant bride, in spiritual terms. They were more like a prostitute actually! Pretty shocking really? How could a prostitute expect to win the love of a righteous prince? Well, he had to die for her on the cross so he could cleanse her from her sin with his blood and give her new life in him.

Marriage is God's idea from beginning to end for a man and woman to live the rest of their lives in the most intimate of relationships. But the bigger picture is that it illustrates is the relationship between Jesus ("the bridegroom") and his people/the church ("the bride"). That is the best love story ever, God reaching out in love to save those who are lost in their sin. Ephesians Chapter 2 verses 1-9

With this in mind, listen to this song The Wedding Day and see if this makes any sense at all!! Christian readers will say "amen" but I suspect those who aren't Christians will be saying.....you what?! Ask questions please...

And to the soon to be, Mr and Mrs H....Happy Wedding Day xxx

Life Admin Angst

....got locked out on that silly bank confirmation thing...it really was a memorable password but something has shifted in my brain and it didn't give me enough time to recalibrate!! Too cross to call the IT number and inflict my frustration on some poor person having to work on a Friday night.

Oh dear...got to find a plan B for a wedding gift...quickly!

Back On The Program?

Got quite a formidable mental list to work through this evening. Already done quite a few items, taken a break but hovering close now to the thing I least like..."life admin." Was planned for earlier in the week but just didn't happen but got to get stuck in because certain deadlines are looming with an unforgiving stare...

That Was The Week That Was!

So, a beautiful evening and reminds me of another one when I popped round to have a brew with a friend. Feels like yesterday...but nope, was last Sunday evening.

How much the week has flown by! I guess time flies when you're having fun...

Tune Of The Week

Can't get enough of this number. Another beauty from Sovereign Grace music; real privilege to sing a lot of their stuff on Sunday mornings.

What a great God we have...even these words aren't enough to declare his greatness!

Panoramic Tip Off

So, had a Facebook tip off that it would be a good sunset this evening so had to check it out. Not been disappointed either!

Facebook Funny (Another One!)

This made me giggle...I guess this just confirms how much I identify daily with the problem outlined here!!!

Fear and Anxiety

Wow, sunny post title there!!

A fantastic resource from CCEF who are the ultimate Biblical Counselling website.

Ed Welch is one of my American faves and is the author of "Running Scared, Fear, Worry and the God Of Rest."

How do I explain? He just goes right to the root of what bothers us the most but then somehow makes God's power and goodness tower over the problems. Read the book as it explains better than me! Making it my summer read as been on my bookshelf for a few years (ouch!) and trying to break the cycle of not reading (years too!).

Fab video here to give a taste. This is for the workbook which accompanies the book.

When I am afraid....Ed Welch
