Thinking more today on Christmas. Almost wrapped my presents (what is the 11th hour except for this kind of thing?). Been a rather disorganized entry into Christmas despite present buying starting in September. A fighting start ended in a pitiful finish and I am afraid a number of friends totally missed out on cards and gifts due to the last minute slump. And as for the "Christmas letter"..well lets not go there. Hoping for better next year!
So. hunting for a Bible verse for today and realized that amazing as the story of Jesus's birth is, what is most precious to me is why he came. Because, shockingly, he came to die. So going forward a few months to Easter bunnies and Easter eggs (not to be found anywhere in the Bible, if you were thinking of looking!) we see the events which meant these verses could stand firm and true through the tides of time and give hope and certainty to anyone who believes:
For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him. shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3 v 16Christmas isn't just about a cute little baby but about God's wonderful plan of salvation started just after the garden of Eden, but kick started into action with the birth of Jesus and his subsequent death then resurrection. After the fall of man in Eden there was a gaping chasm between us and God, a destroyed relationship. Sin gets in the way of a wonderful friendship. Only through Jesus can we have that relationship restored. Now that is something very exciting to remember among the friends, family presents and food of Christmas time.
Reminding me I still have to finish present wrapping...
Happy Christmas friends,
(HRH) Miss Anna x
