Lakeland Countryside

Driving up into the far reaches of the Cumbrian Coast you really see such amazing beauty. So blessed not to have rain and enjoy some September sunshine. Blown away by the sheer size of the imposing hills. Reminded so much of a wonderful creator God.

Wee Holiday

Had a little break away catching up with friends in Cumbria and have been parted from my dearly loved blog as a result. But back at base camp and business resumed. Been good to get away but great to be home and looking forward to a special day at church tomorrow when there are going to be some baptisms.

The Brick Wall Syndrome

Sometimes you gotta stop banging your head against a brick wall and find some place else where the wall isn't so hard!

Sure you have your own situation you can apply it to; I certainy have my own little collection. Discernment is required to know which walls can be changed and which ones you need to remain faithfully head bashing at!

About Time

Made a big mistake not taking a huge box of tissues as blubbered through significant sections of the film! Some delightful and hearth wrenching scenes depicting family life and showing how loving somebody can be so wonderful yet hurt so much if they are hurting or you fear losing them.

With all the marks of a Curtis film (aka Love Actually and Notting Hill) you have the beautiful medley of characters from the quirky to the sophisticated representing the patchwork tapestry of life lived in the real world. Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Glesson are just delightful but overshadowed by the wonderful acting of Bill Nighy.

There are a couple of romances but the main one is sorted out fairly early on without too many twists and turns giving the backdrop of a young couple deeply in love with a growing family. And this is overshadowed by the relationship of the main character with his Dad; so refreshing to see in a society with so many absent Fathers all the good that comes from a solid Father and Son relationship.

Go watch it but beware it does verge on being a chick flick...you have been warned!

Reflecting

My life is just so blessed with so many good things. Sometimes it makes my heart ache with such gladness at God's amazing goodness to me in so many ways.

But, as reminded last night, in the first Chapter of Colossians there is one blessing which far surpasses all the countless others...

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,  in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1 v 13-14

Best Laid Plans

Day 1 of holiday so far:
Today has turned out very differently to how I originally "planned" it but it's twists and turns have been interesting and wouldn't have had it any other way. I am privileged to have some pretty special people in my life. And the day is young, still more to come.

Also, for the record I now know what an electric cigarette is and where to buy one!

First Dilemma of The Holidays

What to have for breakfast?

Bacon buttie with HP sauce or bowl of bran flakes?

Wonder which will win?

Real Food

Gonna try and share as the year unfolds about some of the things we have been learning in the Real Food group. Way too brain dead to do it now (you sure have to think hard) but so much good stuff went in that it's bound to bubble up at some point. So watch this space!

First Brew Of The Day

A precious thing to be enjoyed and cherished....

Back On The Programme

Yeah, we are back in Miss Anna. After an evening vegged in front of the TV (and doing some Real Food prep I hasten to add) a good night's sleep as ensued and feeling a lot better. However, there is still something attacking my immune system which I am determined is not going to affect the few days leave I am starting after work tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yipseedooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't Sleep, Won't Sleep, Wanna Sleep

I am sooooo tired but my mind just won't shut down...tried the sleep hygiene way of non media input in a darkened room but as that is not working trying the Miss Anna way of multi media bombardment via Facebook, Spotify and Blogger to help me nod off.

Smoke Alarm Heads Up

Did you know you can get a smoke alarm with a non replaceable battery which means when the battery goes you can't replace it. Erm, interesting concept. So it's now been ripped off the ceiling and connections cut. And I'm going shopping for a new smoke alarm...

Never Forgotten

"This song goes out to anyone who has lost someone who they truly love"

I'll Be Missing You

Do you ever get over losing someone who you truly love? True, time heals but you never forget them. They will always be a part of your life for all that they meant to you, the way they shaped and influenced you, all that you shared. The way they saw something special in you even when nobody else did. What you would give for 10mins with them to fill them in on all the things that have been going on since they died. Best to do is to live in a way they'd be proud of and hope you'd have brought a smile to their face whilst you try and tell them about 10 things at once at 100 miles an hour without drawing breath.

You know who you are and I will always miss you but just so thankful for the time I ever knew you.
