I have just sorted through a whole load of files and chucked and ordered stuff related to them. Is it sad that this produces a warm glow inside?

Repentance. Turning away from the direction you've been going in and going the opposite way. Making a 180 degree rotation. Instead of walking away from God, walking towards him. Outward behaviour is one area but when it comes to the way we think, that is a place of subtle thinking patterns which only God can see. It also connects so closely with our hearts, emotions and attitudes. How do we retrain the way we think when we discover that a way of thinking or thought pattern is sinful? We seek to replace it with the word of God.

"I have hidden your word in my heart that I may not sin against you" Psalm 119 v 11

Filling our mind with truth instead of lies. Learning to fix our eyes more and more on the Lord in every situation. Being changed and conformed to his image.
Sobering to listen to a news report while I was cooking my tea earlier on life in Haiti, one year on after the earthquake. One man described his "food" as drinking salted water. Another talked about living amongst rats and feeling subhuman. We take so much of our daily comforts for granted. We've long forgotten about Haiti as it comes off the top edition of the news headlines and other tragic events take over. But, for those living their lives their, daily hunger and grinding poverty are a constant reality.
