1) Dynamics of Biblical change:

http://www.ccef.org/

Dr. Powlison discusses his course
What it means to be a human being, a Christian. Growing up as a Christian. Life lived and struggled with, wrestled to grow and understand. What God has done in Dr P's life.

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith
1 Timothy 1 v 5
Entire goal of what it means to be a Christian: people who love, coming from a pure heart, good conscience and a sincere faith.
What does the change look like? How do we change from being self centred to loving other people? Considering the interests of someone else besides myself?
Love is patient and kind. Love is in it for good, for the long haul and seeks to be helpful and constructive to another person.

Different ways of speaking about our relationship with God:

a) a pure heart: has been delivered from all the idolatries, loves and beliefs which would corrupt us
b) good conscience: inner life which actually evaluates life as it is. Come to a self understanding which is true. I understand God the way he really is. I understand other people, my sufferings. How we evaluate everything.
c) sincere faith: a human being who is living their life in with respect to God. Our joy, neediness, ability to take refuge is calibrated, to do with our vertical relationship.

How do I understand and live the way that God engages me in real life? How do we understand all the pressures, disappointment, struggles, influences that come at us? God never lifts us out of our life context. He is the author of our life context. Circumstances are not just blown away; they are the context in which we come to know the living God. Learn to love and trust in our life context.
We do the changing.
